Wonderful tire

I replaced the stock kendas that came with my Dawes eclipse 3.0,and the speed gain was great. I knocked 5 minutes off of a 30 minute commute to work.They are a heavy tire but you will be quite pleased with the speed gain. And as far as the ptotection band goes,this will be my second year with them and all i have done is air them up. Last year picked one piece of glass out of the front tire.But in my opinion they are the best tire that i have ever rode,get em.

I bought these tires in the 26" size for a cheapo Schwinn "Mountain Bike" I had a few years ago and they were worth every penny. Once I dispensed with the nobby tires, the bike felt brand new, and these tires held up beautifully. They're totally quiet, grip the road very nicely (even on turns) and I had them on for a solid year (their puncture resistance is quite good). I never had the opportunity to run them through water, so I can't comment on that, but I will say that in day to day riding, they held up wonderfully and I was very happy riding them.Now that I see they're available in 700x37, I'll be buying a pair for my Raleigh C30 so I can enjoy them all over again. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to be able to use them once again.

Sidewall cracks

First let me say, I've run a lot of Conti Gators, and love them. The Conti Sport contact came on my recumbent, a 20" front and 700c rear. I clean my tires fairly often and last week notice the sidwall rubber where the logo is was detaching. I took the rear tyre off, and upon flexing the sidewall, noticed a crack in the rubber exposing the casing runing the circumference of the tyre. So I then took the front 20" off and it had the same cracking in the rubber..These tires are less then 2 years old and with less than 900 miles, and have been kept in a dark garage out of the sun. The tread has held up well, and few to no glass cuts and no flats, and the tyre rides well, but boy am I unhappy with the cracking sidewalls! I've never had this happen with the Gators. I want issue free tyres on my bikes, so these have been replaced with other brands...
