Continental 0196136 Sprinter GatorSkin 28 x 22 Black Tubular Road Tire inherits the best qualities of the highly popular Ultra GatorSkin road tire, namely the durable carbon black tread mixture, the effective puncture protection breaker layer and the DuraSkin anti-cut fabric. The Sprinter GatorSkin itself features the typically comfortable and light feel of a tubular tire. The professional riders use a similar combination in their tires for Paris - Roubaix and other equipment destroying classics in the springtime. If you want to get the miles in, but your streets aren't covered with the finest tarmac and you prefer the inconspicuous function of your tires, then this is your tubular. I've used Sprinters for years and with my latest pair, one lasted 6,000 miles and the other is bald and, knock on wood, has 8,500 miles on it. The streets I train on in Chicago's western suburbs aren't particularly bike-friendly ... with a fair number of potholes and gravel and some glass debris. The ride is comfortable, even when pumped up to 180-plus psi. If you race, you'll appreciate the high psi possible and lower rolling resistance; that's the trade off for a slightly heavier clincher than, say, the Panacer, also a long-time favorite of mine, which is lighter but I wouldn't chance the psi above 150.

I have been using Conti Sprinters and Competition tubulars for over 20 years and I don't think they can be beat.The Sprinter Gatorskins have very good tread life and excellent puncture resistance. Installation is good, as long as you pre-stretch the tire for at least 24 hours prior to installing. Tip: warm tire by placing in sunlight...makes stretching onto rim much, much easier.Recommended!

Best tire for the price. At half the price of most tubulars you get solid performance, good weight, and good grip. Great for criteriums and shorter races. If centuries and high miles are your thing invest in a more expensive pair of tubies.
