I commuted about 1000 miles with one of these on the rear over the last year and only received one flat, while my front tire, another make entirely, received eight. The ride is a little bit harsh, and it's kind of heavy, so I gave it four stars. But I've tried several other commuting tires over the years (Specialized, Continental, Serfas, Michelin) and this one was my favorite of the bunch, having what I felt was the best compromise of road feel to flat protection.

Along with some of the other reviewers, I am having an extremely tough time getting these on without damaging tubes because of the tight fit. I have one on so far sucessfully without leaks. I am using standard steel tire irons. I have destroyed 2 tubes and resorted to just patching them because I don't care to blow money on tubes just because of a difficult tire. I have tried all the tricks, soap, etc. They do go on but the fit is so tight, the pinch damaging of tubes during the last pry is darn near impossible to avoid. I had one inflated for long enough to try how they ride. This is not a fast tire. DO not buy this to replace mountain tires for speed unless you came from knobbies. In that case they may be just a tad faster. I am convinced that if I get them on, They will be durable enough to not need changing for a while, because God forbid I have to try and change one of these on the road! Just carry a cell phone, and forget about it with these.

I install and change tires quite often and have never ever encountered a tire that was so difficult to remove. I've broken many tire levers on them, and it's always a long arduous process. I don't write reviews often, but these FRUSTRATED me enough to do so. There are many better tires out there, specifically Panaracer Pasela's. These aren't worth it.
