Product Description
Continental 0122294 Town & Country 26 x 1.9 Urban Tire is a hardwearing workhorse built for stability and traction as well as value. Its thick tread rubber was designed and molded to provide excellent grip under all weather conditions. The smooth tread surface provides a seamless, asphalt-gripping ride, while its inverted tread channels provide bite when the street surfaces are affected by erosion or debris such as gravel and sand. Police bike squadrons throughout the world use the Town & Country. It's high mileage, puncture resistance and low rolling resistance make the streets safer. This is the tire that a lot of bikes should be shipped with. There are a lot of people who are not hardcore and don't need the knobbies and if you don't then this tire is an excellent choice. I use my bike mostly in the city and then also go on a couple of chill trails. I don't ride fast on the trails and this provides me enough traction with good rolling resistance. I am not an adrenaline junky, I ride for transportation and these work great for what I do.

My first pair of Continental Town & Countrys, made in "Western Germany", lasted 12 years. I replaced them with the same model, but made in Taiwan. They didn't last 2 years, and I had many more flats from sharp objects before the sidewall gave out. I understand now the tires are made in India and are all black (woohoo!) but I'm not willing to take the chance. I don't imagine they improved the quality by moving the manufacture to India.

This is my favorite tire for city riding. I worked as a bicycle messenger for many years and this was all that I would ever use on my fat tire bikes. I miss the coffee coloured side wall, but the all black looks gnarly enough for me. Viva Conti!
