I've used these for the last 4 years or so for a 34mi round trip commute. I just don't want to deal with flats. I'd rather take the 2 minute longer commute (or whatever people will argue a heavier/slower tire like this adds) rather than have an unexpected 15-20 minute flat repair make me late to a meeting. I like the grip these give (ride in the rain a lot) vs. the regular Marathon or something like a Specialize Armadillo. I get about 6000 miles per tire (rear) compared to about 4000 with other brands so the extra cost is worth it to me.Three bewares:1) the tread does wear down kind of quickly (doesn't affect grip too much). It's bald when I start getting to end of life.2) the tire tends to pickup debris - I'm always picking out rocks, glass, metal when I give my tires a quick inspection each week.3) The white reflective stripe is always slights offcenter. Just an aesthetic thing; makes the eye think the tires is wobbling.

I PUT IN ABOUT 400 MILES PER MONTH ON MY BIKE, RIDE TO AND FROM WORK 5 DAYS A WEEK. UP UNTIL 5 MONTHS AGO I AVERAGED ABOUT 2 TO 3 FLATS PER MONTH. I HAVE HAD THE SCHWALBE MARATHON SUPREMES ON MY BIKE FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS AND HAVE HAD ZERO FLATS ... THIS TIRE IS GREAT AND I WILL NEVER AGAIN RIDE ON ANYTHING BUT SCHWALBE MARATHON SUPREMES... I BOUGHT MINE FROM PETER WHITE ON LINE.....THERE ARE OTHER PLACES YOU CAN GET THEM BUT IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH FLATS.. GET THESE TIRES.... THEY ARE GREAT

I upgraded to these from my stock continental contacts on my surly LHT. I was a bit skeptical whether or not they would hold up and that they would have enought traction on wet roads. I have put about 1000 miles on them since purchasing and taken them through muddy and rainslick roads.They are fantastic! They really excel on wet roads. They are lighter and seem to roll sooo much better than my old tires. No flats yet either. Time will tell... So far I love them.
