I bought this tire for my Surly cross-check (fatties fit fine), and have been pretty happy with them. They're very durable, have a nice tread pattern, and keep me rubber side down even on some of my local singletrack. The tread is even lo-pro enough to fit under planet bike cascadia fenders, which was a big plus for me. The reflective strip is nice for riding around town too.Probably the only downside I can put forth is that this is not a very good all around tire. The thick carcass and knobby tread definitely drag a bit on pavement, but does very well once you hit the dirt. In other words, this is a tire to be enjoyed off-piste, but don't buy it as a pavement commuter tire. In fact, if I had a conference with ze Germans, I would probably recommend "urban" be removed from the name.

Smooth both on and off road. Seems to wear long I have ovver 2500 miles on them and still got some life left in em. But I expect that from Continental. Not sure why they are called speed king's since I have not been able to get them over 53 mph?

I really like these tires. Light-ish for a high volume cross tire with a supple sidewall for a great ride. These have replaced a set of more expensive Schwalbe Marathon Cross, which weigh about the same. The Contis outshine the Schwalbes in every way. Here in Nome Alaska I use my Surly LHT on gravel roads, singletrack, doubletrack and trails that double as streambeds. The Contis have enough volume that I can run them at 50-60 psi to soak up the rougher stuff without too much fear of flatting. They roll decently on pavement too, much better than the Schwalbes. Far superior in both traction and shedding mud, too. Both sets have a relective strip, but the one on the Schwalbes started peeling in the first two weeks. I haven't had the Contis that long, but it looks like the strip is molded into the tire and should stay put. I'll give these tires five stars if I end up getting a couple of seasons out of 'em.
