The city reflective tire features a tough Protek plus layer under the tread that was designed to make punctures a thing of the past. And the tread pattern makes this tire particularly well-suited to asphalt and cement. Silicium-compound tread for low rolling resistance and mud shedding. Just replaced the balloon tires on my mountain bike with these. I had those for city riding, but they were far too large and handled poorly; felt like sandbags.A few notes on fit and sizing. These tires (26 x 1.4) are also known by their ETRTO standard size of 35-559 (35mm by 559mm "diameter"). Watch out for the recommendations or the section that shows people buying this with 1.6-2.1 tubes. The correct tube is a "C2", 26x1.1-1.5 (ETRTO 25/35-559). I have these on an old mountain bike with 26x1.5 Araya rims. These are the narrowest that are recommended for that rim, but are well within margin, so no added danger of pinch flats, etc.Put them on and took off for my first ride, and they feel great. A little more feel of the road than the larger tires, but the weight difference and rolling difference are like night and day. Tread is good for typical urban roads & bike paths, and handling in the corners, over bumps, through sandy debris on the roads, wet curves, etc. were all just great and confidence-inspiring. (it just rained here in Boston, so all of these conditions were on my ride -- perfect evaluation conditions).I am going to be using these for weekend rides and commuting approximately 10-12 miles each way to work over varied road quality. Some may say these are a little narrow for that, but not me, and my initial ride seems to confirm a good choice. My own experience with Michelins on my bikes and car over the years has always been one of quality product. These are no different. I will update the review after more miles, but I am definitely looking forward to having this bike out on the road with these tires.

I was running the 1.8 inch version of these tires, purchased from REI.These tires roll and handle great, and the reflective stripe is great, but they've been nothing but trouble for me. As soon as I got home, I noticed one of the tires had three parallel slashes through the sidewall. Production problem, or unboxing issue at REI? Who knows. I exchanged the tire and began a 2,000 mile tour of the Pacific coast. After about 700 miles, the rear sidewall failed. The sidewall just began to tear open over the course of 50 miles or so. I am always very careful to ensure that my brakes do not touch my tires, and kept around 60psi in the tires at all times. I was carrying around 70 pounds of gear distributed between front and rear panniers. Bicycle tires should not fail under these conditions.These tires are made in Thailand, and are the first bad experience I've ever had with a Michelin product.

I replaced the knobbies on my dad-ified mountain bike with these. I previously used kevlar beaded City Slicks, but as I get older, I suppose some tread isn't a bad idea. In Portland. Where it rains (I suppose) a lot.They are high-pressure, low-resistance, and pretty easy to mount. Not sure how well they wear yet, but I'm happy so far.PS: Amazon delivered these in huge boxes (I got 4), separately. Crazy. Free to me, but seemed a bit wasteful.
