I wanted to wait until I had logged 2,000 miles before writing a review, but I'm there now, so here goes!I bought a pair of these tires (26x1.85) for a old 90's steel mountain bike that I ride on roads and hard-packed dirt. The difference between these tires and the knobby tires is amazing. I haven't measured officially, but it seems that I am 5 mph faster on average cruise.These are tough tires as well. I have not got a single flat in the 2k, even though I have hit glass, thorns and other garbage people throw out of their cars.The handling is great; they transformed the bike from a cumbersome handling, noisy, bumpy ride into a glass-smooth and great cornering machine.After 2K, I see almost no wear on the front tire, and medium wear on the back. I have no idea how long the will last, but I will certainly buy another pair when it's time.

I purchased one of these tires to replace the rear on my K2 Easy Street Deuce, which I bought right here on Amazon and is a great bike by the way. The tire has performed very well so far. It is a bit heavier than the tire it replaced, but due to the tread pattern it actually rolls faster.I use my bike mainly on city streets and paved trails, and this tire grips those surfaces very well. It also feels secure and stable at higher speeds.Since I sometimes ride at dusk, I value the added safety feature of the reflective stripe, and I actually like the look of the stripe on the tire. So far the puncture resistant properties have held up, as I have not experienced a flat on the bike, but in the future I am sure to encounter some sharp debris on a ride or two and I will update my review then.So far I have found this tire to be a great value for its features and performance. When it goes on sale, I'll be sure to purchase another for my front rim.

Two autumns ago, I put a set of these from REI on an old steel MTB I use mainly for cruising with the kids. They perform great, and make a cumbersome bike reasonably agile on the road. But when I pulled them out of the shed the other day, not having ridden the bike since March or so, I noticed hundreds of dry-rot cracks all around the sidewalls of the tires.I've never stored this bike indoors, but I've also never left it in the rain or snow. It wears a nice mix of components I've taken off better bikes as I've upgraded, and I don't want to destroy those bits. So it's been subjected to a couple years of seasonal temperatures--not a good explanation for all the cracks. Something is wrong with the way the rubber was manufactured.If these were 10-year-old tires I'd chalk the problems up to age and exposure and probably ride on them. But in 2-year-old tires ridden maybe 75 miles, I don't feel so charitable, or tempted to risk a blowout by riding them. Maybe Michelin has ironed out the problem since I bought this set, but I'm not inclined to spend another $50 to find out.
