When I moved to Brooklyn NY and saw how bike-friendly it was, i decided to get one. I shopped around and decided on the "cruiser" type step-through bike (so I could wear a skirt!) You should know $500 is the minimum you can pay to get a decent bike (I think). I got down to the Public C7 (a little top-heavy) and the Globe Daily 2 (nice ride, but $660 and only came in boring blue and silver). Then i found the Biria. I couldn't believe it was only $500. It was a super-comfy ride, a great upright position. Here are the things you get in this bike that you have to pay extra for on other bikes:1. Front and rear rack (same colors as your frame!)2. a cute bell3. Fenders (again, same color!)4. Chain guard, so you don't have to worry about getting your legs/clothes dirty!And happily the Citibike comes in many cute colors: yellow, red, bright blue, olive, and my favorite: CREAM! It also comes with a bell. How cute is that?I rode it home from the bike store (6 miles) and even in my out of shape condition, it was a breeze. The following weekend I rode to a part (12 miles round trip) and again it was just a dream to ride.I can't say enough good things about this bike.Two things to mention though:1. the seat (mounted on springs) started squeaking right away. Am hoping WD40 will take care of this.2. I bought a giant Kryptonite lock to protect it here in NY. But it's not wide enough to go through both the frame AND the back wheel. It is SO CLOSE but just doesn't make it. So if you live somewhere you need to lock this bike up, be sure and get the heavy duty chain instead.
