I bought my Mondials from my LBS, put them on with no tools, after learning the technique ( watch you tube video for marathon tire installation ) Then went on a Tour into Northern Canada the following week or so. I had no flats, none. I now have 4600 miles on the tires and they still look great with little sign of wear. I expect to get another 4k miles out of them. They are heavy, handle well on the many dirt and gravel roads I choose to ride. I do help them a bit by picking out pieces of glass etc every couple of weeks.

After trying a few different tires on my hybrid which I use for commuting to work and riding less traveled gravel roads for training rides I ended up forking out the big money on these tires. Wish I would've bought them sooner. I've put 700 miles and they still look great and I've had no flats and have rode some areas with plenty of glass and debris on the side of the road. There a bit heavier then standard tires but still roll real well. I had Michelin Pilots that were a little heavier and had real poor performance when it came to rolling resistance not to mention they were nearly impossible to remove and put back on if a flat did occur. The Michelin Cyclocross Jet's were a bit faster but wore quickly on pavement and didn't provide much in the way of flat protection on city streets. These seem to be the best of both worlds. I use the Mondial on the front wheel and Dureme on the back. They handle gravel roads well provided they haven't recently been graded, though I think by letting out a little air pressure they would handle the looser roads okay. If your looking for a great tire with a good life expectancy these are what you need.
