I purchased a Tubus Rear Rack for my Surly Long Haul Trucker for a recent bicycle tour of the Oregon and Northern California Coast. The rack was easy to mount and adjust and was an absolutely solid performer during the entire two week tour. The light weight of the hollow chrome-moly tubing was an added plus, when every ounce hauled up a hill (or mountain) makes a difference. Quality of construction is first rate. This is a great rack!

I have had a number of cheap racks in my life and had an aluminum Planet Bike Planet Bike Eco Rack Oversized 6061 T6 Aluminum Bike Rack with Pre-installed Hardware rack that looked pretty tough before this one, and this is far better. It seemed a little extravagant to me to spend over a hundred bucks on a rack, but this thing is so solid it is like it is part of your bike instead of an accessory. I've had it a year and I have used it everyday about 10-20 miles with varying weight loads, for a total of about 5000 miles, and it is pretty much as good as new. The paint does wear away where the panniers rub against it, but this is easy to touch up. I have bought my share of bike stuff which I haven't used much and now seems like a waste of money, but this I use everyday and I don't know how I lived without it.
