CriticalCycles City bicycles are hand built for the commuter lifestyle with a lightweight tig-welded steel frame and an advanced component set that is ideal for riding around town, on the beach boardwalk, and for exercise. The steel tubing and frame geometry enable a softer ride. Standard on each bike are Kenda Kwest Tires ($50 Value), the perfect hybrid/touring tire designed with smooth rounded tread with large water dispersion grooves. Many upgrades are also included such as front and rear fenders, vintage-style bullet headlamp (batteries not included), a mid-century bell, rear rack, sealed bottom bracket. Upright handlebars will keep your eyes on the road while being easier on your back. Included with your bike are all the tools you need build it in 15-30 minutes. I bought one of the fixed gears for myself a couple months back and I literally just bought one of the step thru's for my girlfriend. The fixed gear bike is amazing and I don't expect anything less for this new bike. The price is unbeatable, and the style of the bike is right in line for what I'm looking for.If you are in the market for a new bike, I highly recommend picking one of these up![...]

I received this bike and couldn't wait to open it. It looks great put together...if you can figure it out without any instructions. They give you a website to go to but it's a YouTube video of a some other bike from a different brand being put together. It's great looking if u can get it all together. I am still waiting to ride it as I did not receive the screw that tightens the seat in place and will have to buy one somewhere. Also, the kickstand is angled so far forward that the bike tips the other way if I try to stand it up. Oh yeah...the back fender rubs the tire so I will have to bend that. Also two reflectors didn't come with any mounts and I have two screws left over that are mismatched to each other but don't fit the bike. And....the rack is loose.

I bought one of these in the black 7-speed model a couple months ago (through Critical's website) and I'm really happy with it overall.First of all, it's (obviously) a screaming deal, comparable to bikes twice the price. The design is a classic Dutch "omafiets" (that's "granny bike" in Dutch, for you non-bike-geeks) -- Google it and check out Holland's vibrant bike culture if you're interested. With its upright riding position and easy on/off, it's infinitely more practical for use around the city than mountain-style bikes I've had in the past. I'm still in the market for grocery panniers, then I'll be doing a lot more errands by bike. Yay! (As an aside, I've also outfitted mine with an electric assist kit from Clean Republic, which makes functional biking a real possibility in my hilly town.)All the main components (cranks, gear system, etc) seem to be of high quality. The seat is reasonably comfy. The accessories (bell, light) not so much -- they're pretty flimsy and I ended up taking them off. I also replaced a number of the alloy accessory-mounting screws with stainless steel from the hardware store -- strangely enough, the provided ones were English but the better replacements were metric. The paint job seems unusually easy to chip, but I'm hoping it will cure more over time; for now, I've got Gorilla Tape over the wear points, like under the bottom tube where it rests on my car rack.When I first assembled the bike, the fenders were wonky and the kickstand was too long. Critical's responsive tech support gave me ideas for bending the fender stays on one side and putting weight on the kickstand to bend it a bit too, and both issues were resolved.As I said, overall I'm really happy. It has needed some ongoing tinkering, so it's not exactly perfect out of the box, but at this price I'd expect that. My husband wants one of the diamond frames now.
