April 2013 Update: Did a spring cleaning and checked the Tracker tire on the rear wheel; it had a piece of glass, roughly 1/8" square embedded in the tread; the top of the glass was smoothed down, meaning the glass had been embedded in the tire for some time. I pulled it out with a needle-nose expecting to hear the hisssss; nothing. No air escaping, no flat, nothing. The Proteck layer protects your ride even if you're riding on embedded glass. The tread wear is still minimal. This is one tough tire that is ideal for urban riding.Sept 2012: I inspected my Tracker tire last night, and I found a stiff, industrial-guage wire embedded in the tire about a quarter-inch deep. I pulled it out, expecting to hear hissing air; none. The "Proteck" layer had stopped the wire from puncturing the tube. The Tracker tire did its job and all is well when I go riding!July 2012: I ride a mountain bike mostly on urban roadways, some bike paths. I bought two of these tires for their puncture resistant, all-purpose tread. First, I was surprised that the all purpose tread was not nearly as deep as the knobby tires I've used until now. But the rubber appears to be higher quality, more durable rubber that will wear much longer. The sidewalls are thicker and stiffer than any other bike tire I've seen. So, this tire, combined with the puncture-resistant "Protek" layer embedded in the tire, will ride stiffer than a conventional tire; it also rides much faster than knobby tires. The downside to the ride is I notice my rear wheel skids more frequently when I brake; knobby tires definitely have more road grip. Second, the 1.85 tire width may be accurate but the tire, when inflated, is wider than the 1.95 Kenda ATB tire on my front wheel. Not a big deal; just the tire is not as slim as I thought (the front Kenda tire might not be accurate in spec). Third, mounting this tire allowed me to remove the heavy puncture-resistant tube and use a normal tube for weight savings. Fourth, mounting the tire is more difficult than a conventional tire because the stiff sidewall doesn't flex much. Not impossible to mount but it's more work. If you're re-using your tube, it will work fine if you transfer from a smaller tire to the 1.85 Tracker. If you transfer your tube from a 1.95 or wider tire to the Tracker, expect the tube to give you fits before your mounting is complete. I had to inflate/deflate the Tracker tire three times before the tube seated itself properly on the rim. Hint: use talc powder to help the tube seat easier in the tire.

Great tires. Not only do they ride good but they look good too. I am surprised by the low price and was happy to see that they were very good quality. Not to mention having Michelin tires on my bike. You can't go wrong with these.
